Destination wedding videographer in New York City

This year has been a very rewarding year professionally. After two years of stop due to the pandemic, we finally return to work, but above all to do “special” and interesting things. And I, as a wedding videographer, am crazy about unconventional things!

This “special” thing is one of those that probably happens once in a lifetime and can’t believe it’s happened to me. To Dolcevita Wedding Cinema.

Marlyn and Gerry got married in September in Villa Cimbrone Ravello, on the Amalfi Coast, Italy. A beautiful and intimate wedding plus a gorgeus welcome dinner at Belmond Caruso. Those who follow my business page on Instagram will surely have seen the video teaser of these 2 extraordinary guys. Well, during a chat on the wedding day Gerry told me that there would also be a second event, a very intimate Chinese wedding, that would take place a few months later in New York City.

And so some weeks later I received a message from Gerry asking us to fly to NYC to film this second wedding as well. Of course boss!!!! We can’t wait to see the Big Apple again! And so it was. In November we were in Manhattan ready for this exciting job.

Trying to plan a schedule, we decided to split the work into two days. On the first day, with a beautiful autumn sunny day with colorful Indian Summer foliage, we shot the couple portraits in Central Park in the morning and later in Dumbo, Brooklyn, with the magnificent view of the Manhattan skyline at sunset.

The wedding day (the weather forecast said it would be rainy) we dedicated our time to the bride and groom’s preparations, which were held in a suite of The Plaza and then to the wedding ceremony on the roof of 620 Loft & Gardens, on 5th Avenue, with the unusual view of San Patrick’s cathedral. The ceremony was very simple and minimal by decision of the couple, celebrated by the Pastor and also personal friend of Gerry.

And so the rain finally came. A tropical rain! A little rest, the video interviews with the newlyweds at The Plaza (shhht don’t tell anyone!), a local newyorker hotdog because we were hungry … and because it was very nice to be filmed!

And then off to The Queens where they made a Chinese reception at the New Mulan restaurant. By the way, I absolutely loved the Lion Dance! And this is the story of Marlyn and Gerry’s 2-weddings and how they became so much more than just customers. I would say friends!

What else to add. What a great experience. How many opportunities to see and understand the world and its people that our job as a destination wedding videographer offers us. I am grateful every day for that!
